Hello lovely Tiber-ites!
I'm Jodie and I am a member of Team Tiber here at our Academy location. Michelle has asked me to do the honor of helping Adriana with the blog while she's gone on her sun-drenched vacation. I am so excited to get to share with you over this next week and look forward to hearing what you have to say as well!
This week, I am starting a challenge for myself and would like to extend it to you, should you be feeling brave. I am going to explore uncharted territory, to go where this woman has never gone before, to attempt a feat not for the faint-hearted - I am going to go a whole week without wearing makeup!
I'm not a cosmetic junkie by any means, but you'd be hard-pressed to find me running out the door to even the grocery store without a swipe or two of mascara and a little concealer. I am a woman comfortable in my own skin. My mother raised us to be girls full of confidence and conviction and I think she did a rather fantastic job. In many areas I am so unswervingly confident, so I couldn't shake the awful feeling I got when I found myself jonesing for a fix of concealer I'd forgotten to apply. It really bothered me that I felt uncomfortable leaving the house without goop on my face.
Today, I am wondering what it means to feel beautiful and what it takes to make me feel that way. I often feel beautiful when I am using my body for what it's designed for and am not concentrating on how it looks. Funny little anomaly, isn't it? I am glowing after a good sleep, an extravagant bubble bath, having my tush KICKED in a yoga class, a night out of dancing with my girlfriends, or a long walk in the still of the early morning. Personally, feeling radiant is the notion that my body and its functions are inherantly good. Because they are. To feel beautiful, I think the first step is giving our body what it craves and desires(which is not always, but sometimes, that decadent chcolate treat) and languishing in the magnificence of our soul containers.
So, I'm going to jump on in, feet first and not wear an ounce of makeup for a whole week. I'll be blogging about it here - how it makes me feel, what I do differently, how it affects me. So let's take this journey together and maybe if you're feeling brave, you can give your brushes and sponges a break this week too.
Love&Light,
Jodie
I love what you said about beauty! For me, I'm moving from no make-up to taking time to bring out my beauty. I'm reminding myself that make-up doesn't have to be about putting beauty on, but playing with my own beauty and adding a bit of artistry and colour!

Great idea, Jodie and a beautiul post! As I am typically without makeup, I do notice that I feel differently when I wear it. I feel a bit better about myself and have a bit more confidence. Not sure why, but there you go. Good luck with this week!

Cool, that sounds like a great challenge. Looking forward to hearing about your experience (and seeing some pictures...?). ~Heidi
