Do you ever feel something, deep down in your bones? You just know something? I have had this feeling of excitement in me for the past month or so. The closer we got to 2011, the more excited I felt. I just know that 2011 is going to be a great year. I am so excited it is finally here. Not so happy Canada lost to Russia last night, but you can't win them all. Even in that loss, my son and I were able to learn and grow and spend some quality time together. Can't ask for much more than that!
This year, Tiber River will start to resemble the business it is going to become. I feel like we're finally out of our teenage years - you can get an inkling of how we are going to look but there is still some maturing to be done that will change our appearance a bit in the coming years. We have made some mistakes that we have learnt from and are finally growing up, with the foundation of those learned experiences in place. We are entering our twenties - full of excitement, hopes and dreams but realizing we have quite a way to go still. This year will be spent learning, developing and setting the stage for the great thirties and forties. For my part, I am studying great businesses, creating a structure around the Tiber culture that will insulate and cherish it, allowing it to always be present but adjust to the changes in it as well.
As Michelle mentioned yesterday, we had our annual Tiber Christmas party. Wasabi Sabi gave us unbelievably great food and I was moved by the relationships I witnessed throughout the night. There was laughter, commrodery and genuine happiness. It was downright mind-blowing to see what Tiber River has created in its few short years. Granted,it's not Google, but it is a company that is much more a family than it is a place of work. I am honored to be a part of it. I cannot wait to see what our family will do together in the next five years. The one thing I have really come to realize in the last month is the importance of the relationships you build. They can bring you joy and sorrow but in the end, they are the most important aspect of our lives. We need to cherish them and nurture them and never take them for granted. The one thing I will no longer do is work with someone or some company that does not treat myself or my company in the way I would treat them. I want to surround myself with people and businesses that view life and business the way I do. And last night, I did just that and had an absolutely wonderful night!
THANK YOU TIBER TEAM!!!
Hi Adriana,
I'm excited to see how Tiber develops throughout the new year. Perhaps a St.Vital location is in the works? ;)
Congrats on all of your successes and Happy New Year to you and Michelle.
