Good morning!  It's been one of those weeks where I'm asking myself, "it's only Tuesday?".  Sorry for the delay in posting, I feel like I've been shirking my blogging responsibilities, my apologies!  I've been having some technical difficulties.  Not sure why, but along with computer issues, the universe has been jinxing my home with water leaks, electrical problems (leading to 5 days with NO HOT WATER), and phones that don't work.  There is a message there, haven't figured out what it is yet.

Yesterday Adriana and I had the opportunity to be interviewed by the Women's Enterprise Centre.  They are recording video clips of real messages from business owners.  Thank you to WEC for the great opportunity!

Here are some pics from our 4 Year Anniversary Party.  A big THANK YOU to Amy from Barefoot Wine for providing the delicious wine.  The jewelry by Crystal Ruth Designs was purchased by many.  Isn't Adriana glowing?  She looks fabulous and there is no evidence of the many sleepness nights.  Enjoy the day!

 

Last Call for Teacher Gifts!

Good Morning!  I just wanted to post a quick reminder for anyone searching for the perfect teacher gift.  We have been busy littles bees the last couple of weeks making teachers feel extra special.  A lotion, soap, or Tiber gift card for a manicure or pedicure is a great way to say thank you.  Where would our world be without teachers?  I am so grateful for wonderful teachers, they have such an impact on our children's lives.

Our Anniversary event on Monday evening was a tremendous success. I promise to post some pictures tomorrow.  This week has been jam packed with interviews and finalizing details for our opening of Tiber #2.  I have to say that I am completely blown away by the caliber of candidates who have applied and will be joining our team.  I can't wait to introduce them to you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Melissa from all of us at Tiber River!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and Father's Day.  Scott ran the relay in the marathon yesterday so we were there to cheer him on, congrats to all the runners out there!  The rest of the weekend was jam packed with a birthday party for my mom, some community events, and a wonderful summer solstice party with amazing tapas food.  Great weather, great times.

We hope to see everyone tonight at our 4 Year Anniversary Party and jewelry launch for Crystal Ruth Designs at 408 Academy Rd. between 6-9 pm.  There will be mini-manicures, nibblies, drinks, and of course great company.  Please bring a food item for Winnipeg Harvest if you have some extra cans in cupboard.

Dads like to smell great too!

Melissa and I had the opportunity to participate in a lunch presentation put on by the Women's Enterprise Centre and Winnipeg Women Magazine.  Linda Edgecombe is a motivational speaker and used humour to show us how we can shift our perspective to be more productive, happy, and fulfilled.  It was time well spent! 

On behalf of Tiber River, Melissa and Darcie attended Winnipeg's Most Beautiful Women contest (put on by Winnipeg Women Magazine) last night and I look forward to learning who the winners are!  The finalists enjoyed special gifts compliments of Tiber River.

Personally, it's been a blur of week.  Paige finished school on Tuesday and we enjoyed her end of school picnic on Wednesday.  She has been busy teaching Brynn some new words like "NO" and "GO" and how to throw special things like Ipods and cameras.  Thank goodness Paige will be expending her energy at camp for the next few weeks.  BIG accomplishment - I survived single parenting for the last 24 hours.  I crutched it over to Paige's soccer game while she pulled her sister, blankets, and the snacks in the wagon.  I think we looked pretty funny.  Big plans tonight, we're hosting a birthday party for my mom, she is 64 (but looks like she's 50, thank goodness for good genes!).  Enjoy the weekend!

I have to say the Cold Play concert was one of the best concerts ever, they were simply amazing!  We are so lucky to have the MTS Centre, the naysayers must be eating their words.

Tiber Highlights from Last Week

Good Morning!  First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Kayla from all of us at Tiber River!  Big birthday hugs to you today.

Well, today is the first day of my new routine of getting up a couple of hours before the rest of the people in my house. I am using this time to organize my thoughts so I can be more productive in my day.  When I can walk again, I plan to use this time for EXERCISE - yes, power walking and pilates are awaiting my recovery.  My injury has left me craving exercise.  Great news - as of Friday, I can drive again and I haven't been this excited in a VERY LONG TIME.  I practised first with Paige in the car and she said   "Mommy, I'm so excited I just can't stand it".  Yep, Freedom is a very good thing.

Melissa and I spent the day at a Jack Daly seminar last week and he was a fantastic presenter.  There was plenty of great information and we learned about our personality types.  I am an Expressive Driver (no surprise there!) and Melissa is an Amiable (she is naturally a people pleaser).  Our different styles are probably the reason why we work well together.  Thank you to Wade Miller at Pinnacle Staffing for the complimentary invitation.  

Thursday evening Tiber River treated some ladies to some pampering and treats at a session called First Impressions put on by The Style Girls at Springs Church.  There were over 1100 women in attendance and it was a fantastic evening. Personal Stylists, Nancy Taipale and Karen Judge spoke about taking care of ourselves first - inside and out. They emphasized the importance of building your own personal brand because you make a first impression in only 3 seconds.

On Saturday, there was a celebration for Deb, one of our estheticians who is getting married at the end of the month.  I stopped by later in the evening so I missed the belly dancers and henna tattoos.  But there was still lots of great Indian food left.  Yum!

Looking forward to a great day and the Cold Play concert tonight.  Take a moment to get a few rays of sun today.

Tackling Tuesday & Happy Birthday Jocelyn!

I returned yesterday from enjoying a weekend in Whistler.  It was fantastic and (not to rub it in) much warmer than here.  They had unusually high temps which made it perfect for reading by the pool.  I had big hiking plans, but my crutches just wouldn't cooperate.  A big thank you to my in-laws for entertaining the girls so we could get away.  It's been a year since we've gone anywhere without the kids and (although they were missed) I always come back wondering why we don't do it more often.

Today I feel relaxed and ready to tackle my to-do lists.  It will be a day of following up, getting back on track, and getting organized.  The new Tiber River will be opening in only 6 weeks!

A great big thank you to the Tiber team for braving the cool temps and handing out goodies for Academy Road Live on Saturday.  The event was a huge success!

Finally, Happy Birthday to Jocelyn, her birthday was on Sunday.  I hope you had a fabulous celebration on Saturday night.

Academy Road Live tomorrow!

Just a quick reminder to join us tomorrow for Academy Road Live 12-5 pm.  There will be rides, entertainment, goodies, and giveaways!  We will be giving away  soap samples, balloons, and refreshing raspberry lemonade.  There will also be mini hand massages for the moms and dads!  Everyone is so excited to participate, I wish I could be there too.  Have a great day tomorrow girls! 

Team Tiber is Growing!

Our Job Fair was a huge success on Tuesday night.  We had a great turnout with many wonderful candidates.  Thank you to everyone who made the effort to stop by with their resume and to our team for having so much fun participating.  The radio ads on Hot 103 really helped get the word out!

Melissa and I went to MC College yesterday afternoon to speak to a group of esthetic students about the opportunities at Tiber River.  It was a great experience and we have a few new resumes that will likely be great additions to our team at the new location. 

We are still accepting resumes so please continue to spread the word and drop the resumes off at the Academy Rd. location.  I am joining my husband at a conference in Whistler this weekend and it will be a very nice break.

Introducing Victoria Mae.....

Hello all!  Adriana here this morning.  I've forgotten how frustrating Typepad can be when uploading pictures.  This is the third time I've tried to post this - let's hope third times a charm!

I wanted to post a few pictures of my beautiful new daughter, Victoria Mae, who arrived on Victoria day long weekend (apparently, she was waiting for her weekend to get here!).  She was 11 days late but worth every second we had to wait for her.  She was 7lbs 13oz and labour was a breeze - maybe 15 minutes total.

 

 

 

 

We are starting to get into a bit of a groove.  The first week was quite a challenge but the emotions are now under control and I'm starting to feel more like myself.  Sleep isn't happening much these days but I find being older, wiser and more patient helps me get through the nights better than I did with the other two.   

I wanted to say Thank You for all the well wishes and gifts.  They meant a lot and brought many smiles in a time when tears were reigning supreme.  Speaking of tears, I have a very hungry baby screaming in my ear - must go feed.  THANK YOU ALL!
