Progress!

Although it feels like we are lists away from completion, we are making some serious progress at the NEW location.  The walls are up, the pedi stations are built, the paint colours have been chosen, furniture is arriving every couple of days, and the best news is that WE ARE ON TIME! 

My kids were there last Saturday and Paige very cleverly figured out that the holes for the sink in the retail area were the perfect fit for her eyes and nose.  Brynn thought this was hilarious.  Please note, these ARE NOT OUR PAINT COLOURS.  Tomorrow I am putting some banners, receiving manicure tables, and hopefully finalizing details for our retail shelving and display.

Job Fair next Tuesday!

The most important part of our business and the key to our success at location #2, is our people.  We are looking for new team members who are positive, dynamic, love people, and have a passion for our natural, yummy smelling products.  If you are community minded, concerned about the environment, and looking for something different, stop by and learn more about our growing business.  We are looking for Nail Technicians, Estheticians, and Customer Service Professionals.

Summer is here!

Well, it may not feel like it outside today, but it sure does at Tiber River.  Our Raspberry Lemonade products are back!  We've also introduced a new Summer Lovin' soap and lotion that smells like a fresh, juicy watermelon.  They are both so delicious and uplifting, stop by for a summer treat!  The soap looks like a wedge of watermelon, our production team has outdone themselves again.

 

Good Luck Woman Entrepreneurs!

Tonight is a very special evening.  I have the pleasure of attending the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards organized by the Woman Business Owners of Manitoba.  Adriana and I had the privilege of being nominated in previous years and it such an inspiring evening.  It truly is a celebration for all women entrepreneurs.  Best of luck to everyone and an extra special wish goes to Deb Dawson-Dunn, owner of Get It Dunn!  She is a friend, a client, and a very gifted business owner.

I have not yet had the opportunity to meet little Victoria, but I heard her coo-ing on the phone this afternoon.  So precious.  Hope to meet her in person soon.  Still unable to drive so getting places continues to be a challenge.

Victoria May just in time for Victoria Day!

I just received a message from Adriana announcing the birth of Victoria May last night around 9 pm.  A great big CONGRATULATIONS to Adriana, Tom, Isabella, and Lucas.  Welcome to the world Victoria!  I will post more details as I get them and hopefully I can sneak a peek at this little one very soon.  Wishing them restful, happy thoughts today.

I hope everyone is busy enjoying the long weekend here in Canada.  Let us know what you're up to.  I cancelled my plans for planting, but it's turned out to be a beautiful weekend after all.  We're having a couple families over for a barbeque and hopefully a bonfire tonight too.  Enjoy the day!

Inspired

I am feeling inspired today and surrounded by forward movement.  Has everyone heard the story of Faren Hall?  He is the local Winnipeger who jumped in the river to save the life of a local teenager.  Join me in wishing him a Happy 45th Birthday today!  He is truly an example for all of us.

I have also recently started reading a book called "When All You Have is Hope" by Frank O'Dea,  philanthropist and founder of The Second Cup.  He shares his transition from living on the streets of Toronto to founding a multi-million dollar company.

Today the province announced the launch of 10 e-waste depots across the city.  For more information check out Green Manitoba.  We always seem to be looking for a safe way to dispose of electronic equipment 

I was amazed to learn how social media is changing our world at the digital marketing conference on Tuesday.  This now famous video of Susan Boyle on Britain's Got Talent has experienced 100 million hits since April 11.  Check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY for a litte inspiration, hope, and empowerment.

Baby update - Adriana is STILL waiting.  I called her house yesterday morning hoping to hear some baby news.  I will keep you posted!

HAPPY MANITOBA DAY!!

I am sneaking in here and putting up a quick post.  No baby yet and the body and mind have completely shut down in anticipation.  If nothing happens in the next few days, I will be induced on Friday.  Here's to this baby FINALLY making an apperance!

Also, I had to send a great big shout out to our wonderful province.  I have lived and traveled in many places and there isn't anywhere else I'd want to live.

A day for learning & Happy Birthday Leslie-Anne!

First, I would like to wish Leslie-Anne, our Production Manager a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY from everyone at Tiber River!  You are so appreciated and without you, we would not have the delicious smelling products on our shelves for everyone to enjoy.  Thank you for all that you do and we wish you a prosperous, healthy year ahead. 

Happy 139th Birthday Manitoba!  I am thankful to have such a great place to live.

I'm off to attend a full day seminar organized by the Women's Enterprise Centre and the Canadian Marketing Association.  It's about digital marketing and the new social media world we live in.  There is a lineup of fantastic speakers including Rahaf Harfoush who worked on Barack Obama's social media campaign.  I'm looking forward to it, will be back tomorrow to share.

Spring Fling...

I hope everyone enjoyed Mother's Day.  It was beautiful out and let's hope it continues for the long weekend.  I received a flower, a hand made necklace and shell box from my kids, and a pair of black patent Birkenstocks to help get me back to walking.   Good company and good food made the day just right!

I just want to let everyone know that the our Spring Fling products are almost gone.  We'll be bringing in our delicious summer line up next week so be sure to grab the last of the Spring goodies.
