We were thrilled to be part of a brand new magazine launch, Weddings in Winnipeg.  Our web developer Chris and his wife Kandace own an online company WeddingsInWinnipeg.ca and recently launched a brand new Wedding Magazine.  It is fabulous and filled with tons of great information.

It is now available at these stores across the city: The Bay, Sears, Tip Top, Cake Clothing, Stella's, LA Collection, WK Chan, Vandenbergs, Independent Jewellers, and Tiber River (in a day or two).  Next month they are featuring Tiber River and providing skin care advice to help get ready for the big day.  Be sure to go online to request a copy or stop by Tiber River to pick one up!

Hot 103's Children's Hospital Foundation Radiothon tomorrow!

Tiber River is the proud sponsor of Hot 103's Children's Hospital Foundation Radiothon tomorrow between 6 am - 6 pm.  Please tune in to listen and call RBC Miracle Lines at 983-kids to donate.  My friend's son suffered with a brain tumour so I know first hand the importance of this foundation in saving the lives our children.  Hot 103 is also hosting a boot camp at Progressive Fitness to raise money for the foundation.  Check out the details on their website.  We can all make a difference!

Congratulations and Welcome!

A great big CONGRATULATIONS and thank you goes out to Kayla today.  This week marks her 2 YEAR Tiber River Anniversary.  Thanks for your dedication and all that you've contributed to Tiber.  You are very much appreciated!

Also, a warm WELCOME to Tally who has joined our team part time.  We are secretly hoping she will love it so much she will want to stay a little more.  Tally also teaches yoga over at Moksha Yoga.  If you haven't been, you need to go!

We're working on getting some demolition completed in our new location and there is a long laundry list of to-do's.  Very exciting times!  Here is a sneak peak of our new sign.  It's computer generated, but it makes it all seem real.

I was so proud of my kids yesterday.  They decided, on their own, to go around our neighborhood and pick up garbage for Earth Day.  Actually, they have done this before but just around our house and down the block.  Yesterday, they headed out and did five streets before they got tired and came home.  I LOVEthat schools discuss the importance of our environment and keeping it clean and safe.  Instilling in our children that importance at such a young age means that they are cognizant of it throughout their lives.  WAY TO GO!!!

I also wanted to send out a great big THANK YOU to Alison Pagsuyuin, owner of Easy Eco Baby, who dropped off a beautiful gift for me yesterday.  THANK YOU Alison!!  She has wonderful eco-friendly baby products, including disposable diapers, wipes and disposal bags, which I can't wait to use!  The guilt is gone knowing that I am not harming the environment but still have the convenience of disposable diapers and wipes - Yippee!!  I highly recommend checking out her website for these and other great products, www.easyecobaby.com

I'm off to an exciting meeting today and of course, more work on getting Tiber #2 ready to go as quickly as we can.  We have decided on the renovations we will be doing, we have our manicure and pedicure furniture picked out and we're now onto display fixtures, paint colors and signage options.  VERY EXCITING!!

Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day from everyone at Tiber River!  At Tiber River, our mission is to create products that are good for the person and the environment.  The impact on the environment guides us in every decision that we make for our business.  We are very proud of our phosphate free soaps, body washes, and shampoos!

We received a new order of plantable cards from Botanical Paperworks yesterday.  These cards can be planted and flowers will grow.  A great gift that gives back to our earth!  If you're looking for an extra special Mother's Day card, these are the perfect choice.  

Melissa and I are heading to an event at the Fairmont later on today to celebrate Administrative Professionals Day with a group of women deserving to be honoured today.  We are sponsors of this event organized by the International Association of Administrative Professionals.  Afterwords, we are heading to see Diana Krall, I am SO excited!

Get Ready for Earth Day Tomorrow!

Does anyone have special plans for Earth Day tomorrow?  Tiber River is going to launch an Earth Day Contest.  Starting tomorrow until the end of May, bring in your empty containers to recycle.  Fill out a ballot with the number of containers you bring in and whoever brings in the most will win a $100 gift certificate to Tiber River.  There will also be a small prize for second and third place.   We look forward to seeing you and your containers!

If you're like me, you probably have some old electronics hanging out at home and don't have the heart to toss them in the garbage.  Tomorrow you can drop off old electronics to be recycled at the Investors Group at 1345 Waverley (corner of Waverley & McGillvary) between 3-7 pm.  The list of items you can bring:

• tv's
• computer monitors
• desktop computers
• vcr's/stereos
• phones/cell phones
• scanners/copiers/fax machines
• microwave ovens
• rechargeable batteries

Plugging away....

Good Monday morning, everyone!  I am feeling pretty excited this morning and even this yucky weather can't bring me down.  Michelle and I were at our new location yesterday planning and measuring out the changes we'd like to make to the space.  It's much more exciting doing it for real, rather than just talking about something that still has many hurdles to overcome before anything could be done. 

We will have to sacrifice some ideas as well as postpone a few more but all in all, I have the same feeling about this new space as I did about our Academy location - it just feels right!  Hard toexplain intuition but there are times when you just KNOW something is right or wrong.  This expansion is right and regardless of the hardships and challenges, it is what we should be doing. 

We have a lot to get done in a short amount of time but hey, we've done it before.  I remember staying up with a couple of friends on the night before we were to open our doors on Academy, hand writing all the labels for the products because we couldn't get our new label printer to work.  Thank goodness for good friends and good wine!

We are extra challenged this time around with the anticipation of a new baby and a broken ankle but luckily, we also have amazing staff that is helping us every step of the way. 

So, I'm off to get some work done.  Hope everyone has a great week!

Administrative Professionals Week!

I just realized my Friday post did not save properly so I decided to write a quick Sunday night post.  I'd like to remind everyone it is Administrative Professional Day this Wednesday, April 22.  Tiber River is the perfect way to say thank you.  Please call us at 474.2333 if you'd like us to put together a gift package for you.  Some pampering with a gift card for a manicure or pedicure is always a great idea too!  Tiber River is sponsoring an event at the Fairmont on Wednesday to celebrate some of Winnipeg's very own Administrative Professionals.  Melissa and I are looking forward to it.

A few of the Tiber girls headed out last night for dinner and drinks.  They went all out and even hired a limo.  I can't wait to hear about their adventures and I may even post some pictures if they'll let me.  I hope you had a great time!

Adriana, Tom, and I spent a couple hours at the new location measuring and marking the changes we need to make.  We're so excited to get things moving.

FINALLY!!

I'm very excited today - I even put on makeup!!  We get the keys to our newest location today and I'm just bursting at the seams.  We are weeks behind schedule and its going to be full GO for the next few months.  I am at 19 days and counting for D-Day and I have so much to do, its not even funny. 

Even with all of that, I spent this morning laying in bed, laughing hysterically with my kids.  They were in a really goofy mood and I just couldn't leave them and go downstairs to work.  We watched hockey playoff highlights, joked around and talked about school.  What a WONDERFUL morning!!  Thanks Bella and Lucas!

Of course, now I'm LATE for everything.  I'm off to look at display cases, a sealing machine and new labels.  Then I'm helping out at the kids school for lunch and then its all about finishing labels so they will be ready to go to our printer.  Super busy but super exciting.

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather (I am as I've started retaining water and my boots are getting too tight - thank goodness for flip flops!) and enjoy the weekend!

Wow, is it ever nice not having to bundle kids up in the morning.  Bring on the sun!   This morning's post will be brief, my to-do list is quite long today.
