Good Morning!  Everyone who shared their favorite holiday tradition with us on Wednesday will receive a free bar of our Candy Cane soap.  If you live out of town, please email us and we'll send it to you.  I just LOVE the holiday season! 

Our Tiber team is heading out for our annual Holiday Celebration on Sunday.  We'll enjoy a very yummy brunch and then head over to Melissa's to enjoy some fancy cocktails and appetizers - thank you so much for hosting Melissa!  I need to pick up my Secret Santa gift! 

Yesterday was a great day!  I spoke to a group of Intro to Management students at the Asper School of Business about Entrepreneurship.  It was great to hear their questions and you could just feel their promise and enthusiasm.  Last evening we had another group of students from the Asper school come down to Tiber River for a bit of a tour.  We shared our story, answered some great questions, and they shared some fantastic ideas with us.  I think the next time I interview a potential employee I am going to ask "If you were a fruit, what kind of fruit would you be?"  The answer really does tell you a lot about that person.  And it's entertaining.

A Time For Thanks!

Some days, its very easy to get overwhelmed and bogged down in all the stresses we have to deal with on a daily basis.  I was having that kind of day today when Tom told me it was Thanksgiving in the States today. 

That got me to thinking - I really do have so much to be thankful for, especially a great partner like Michelle who is there for me when I need a shoulder (or two!).  Thank You Michelle!

So, today, I challenge you to feel thankful, rather than overwhelmed and sad (if like me, that's how your day began).  It's amazing how stopping and really being thankful can help lift the spirits.  I know all my problems aren't solved but as least I know that I have many more blessings than stresses.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OUR AMERICAN FRIENDS!

A Great BIG Thank You!

THANK YOU to everyone who came out to our Holiday Open House last night to support our Food Drive for Winnipeg Harvest.  A BIG thank you goes out to Starbucks on Academy for providing the delicious hot chocolate, Rodney Braun over at Eve Studios for the complimentary photos with Santa, and thanks to Ace & Chrissy and everyone from Hot 103 for supporting our cause and making it an extra special evening.  You guys are so much fun!

Also, thanks to our team who worked like busy little elves to make the evening a success and my Father in law for being our Santa.  He was so good, my daughter Paige didn't even know!  She kept saying that Grampa was a sleepy head because he was at home taking a nap.  What a great start to the holiday season!

Open House!

Good Monday everyone.  Did you all enjoy that beautiful, warm day yesterday?  Hard to believe it was so nice.  We were running around full throttle but enjoyed it none the less.

Today is another crazy busy day, full of products, errands, swimming and Santa. I'd like to say THANK YOU to all our testers who dropped off their product comment forms.  I'll be adjusting and will have a few more samples for everyone soon.  I'm going to try to create an email-able file it make it easier to fill out.  (I'm learning as I go!)

I also wanted to leave one last plug for our Holiday Open House tonight, from 6 - 9 at our store, 408 Academy Rd.  Bring a donation to Winnipeg Harvest, indulge in hot chocolate from Starbucks, meet Ace and Chrissy from HOT103 and get a free digital photo with Santa, courtesy of Eve Studios.

Happy Anniversary Melissa!

I apologize for the delayed post, I've been running around since 8 am and this is the first opportunity I've had at the computer.

Today is Melissa's 3 year Tiber Anniversary.  HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!  Wow, Melissa has been with us almost since we opened our store and Nail & Body Bar on Academy Road.  We are grateful and we appreciate her contribution to Tiber every day!  It seems like yesterday she walked into Tiber while enjoying a shopping trip on Academy.  We're so thankful you walked through our doors!  Melissa, you are adored by myself, Adriana, our team, and your clients.  Congratulations, we thank you for 3 great years!  She is an incredibly talented esthetician and does a fantastic job of leading our Esthetics Team.

Don't forget our Holiday Open House and Food Drive for Winnipeg Harvest on Monday, November 24 between 6 & 9 pm.  Bring some non-perishable food items for Winnipeg Harvest, peruse our delicious holiday products, enjoy some goodies from Starbucks, and bring the kids for a digital photo with Santa compliments of Eve Studios.  Ace & Chrissy from Hot 103 will be live on location to help us get as many food items as we can to help the less fortunate this holiday season.

All wrapped up!

Good morning everyone!  Yesterday was a day of low lows and high highs.  I felt like I was on a roller coaster (I even shed a few tears, both happy and of frustration).  Thank you, Brett, for turning my day around!!

Michelle and I sat down with Brett, from Squint, who is helping us develop a consistent brand that reflects our beliefs and values.  Both Michelle and I were blown away, speechless and teary-eyed (that was me!) after seeing his proposal.  We feel he has perfectly captured the essence of what we want Tiber River to be like and feel like and we can't wait to share it with you all - which we will very very soon!  I kept looking over his pictures, feeling like Tiber River is growing up.  I'm such a proud mama!!

Today, I begin wrapping soap.  We got these incredibly awesome plastic bags made from eucalyptus that are completely biodegradable and better yet, compostable!!  How cool is that??  We have been searching for a way to shorten the time it takes to purchase a bar of soap from us.  Right now we weigh the soap, find its soap card (that explains the soap and its ingredients), wrap it in wax paper and close it with a sticker.  Takes awhile, especially during the holidays when there is ALOT of soap being purchased.  A great big thank you goes to Chocolatier Constance Popp for telling us about these bags!  If you are looking for an incredible gift or just some mouth watering chocolate like you've never tasted before, visit her store!!  (Thank you, Constance, for the samples - they were almost too pretty to eat...... almost!)

So, we are now able to wrap our soaps in a breathable plastic that doesn't harm the environment or our soap, and thereby speed up our checkout time!  Yippee!!  BUT, now we've got the big job of soap wrapping - so I'm off to wrap them up.

In Search of Santa & Corporate Gifts Anyone?

Good Morning!  Yesterday is thankfully over and I am looking forward to a brand new day!  I arrived home last night after a very long day and evening to a 1 year old with the flu.  After 6 days of serious teething (I think she's getting her molers), Brynn came down with the stomache flu.  My father in law is lucky I arrived home when I did because there was bathing and serious laundry to do!  Poor little thing, I'm hoping she feels better when she wakes up this morning.  What I find amazing (for me) is how  getting a few hours of sleep can settle my mind and I wake up feeling fresh, positive, and ready to jump start the day all over AGAIN.  I just know today is going to be a great day!

Question - does anyone know someone who would be the perfect SANTA for our Holiday Open House on Monday, November 24?  We are offering free digital pics of Santa compliments of Eve Studios and we have a Santa Suit all ready to go.  Unfortunately, I can't squeeze my 6"4 friend Rob into the suit so I need to find a replacement.  We would need your help from 5:30-9:30 and are offering a Tiber River Gift certificate for your contribution.  Please email tiberriver@mts.net if you are interested!

BIG Monday Post!

Good Morning everyone!!  I have ALOT to fit into today's post, so I'm getting right to it.

First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!  I hope Brazil is treating you well and you're not overdosing on all those mangoes and oranges!!

Second, Michelle, Lana and I had such a wonderful time on Thursday listening to Jeffery Gitomer speak.  While he talked alot about sales (and I'm SO not a sales person), I was still able to take so many great things away from him.    He has a very common sensical approach to things and I found his talk refreshing and hilarious.  The most powerful thing he said that really hit home with me was this -

Negative is the instinct.  Positive is the self-discipline we must practice everyday.

I've repeated that so many times since hearing it and it just makes so much sense to me.  It's so easy to be negative.  It's our default.  Not so easy to be positive and we have to force ourselves, every day, to look on the positive side, and more importantly, to react in a positive manner, rather than a negative one.  Thanks Jeffery!

Third, Tom and I took the kids to the Santa parade this weekend and really enjoyed ourselves! 

The weather was great, the floats were wonderful and the kids had such a good time getting candies and free stuff throughout the parade.

 

  

  

 We saw the biggest dog we've ever seen (240lbs!!) there - an English Mastiff that was the most beautiful dog.  It was such a gentle giant!

 

Lastly, all our Christmas products are on the shelf and everything looks and smells so great, we're having trouble keeping them there!  I just had to take a picture of them - and how quickly they are disappearing!
