My mom told me the other day how the Life Well Lived Tip #8 - Do Something you are proud of - really got her thinking. At first she read it and thought, "That (my examples of composting and using a push mower) doesn't make me proud. I do it because my daughter wants me to." Then she thought, "Well, what does make me proud?" She thought and thought until she found something she could do that would give her that feeling of accomplishment, of doing something that will bring her happiness. THAT's what I'm trying to do with the tips. Every tip I write, I'm sure you've heard a hundred times. What I'm hoping is that if you hear it one more time, or maybe in a way you've not heard it before, it will stick and get your brain moving and thinking. Take what I write and make it yours. Apply it to you as only you can. What is important to me may not be as important to you. Find your own meaning. That's a life well lived!
I want to say a BIG thank you to everyone who came by on Tuesday night for our 2 year anniversary! Shayla, thanks for the gerbers - they are gorgeous!! Jamie, the flowers and chocolates will be enjoyed by us all - Thank you!!! Sorry I wasn't there!! I was home with this bug that is hanging on and not letting me function normally!! I am hoping for a better day today!
LIFE WELL LIVED TIP #10: VISUALIZE a Life Well Lived - When I was 8 or so, my father taught me how to visualize things. He taught me how to relax each part of my body, and move my mind into a deep alpha state that would allow me to access the inner reaches of my mind. Through that, I have visualized high test marks, gotten rid of pain (oh my goodness, I just realized I haven't used this for my tummy troubles - guess what I'm doing today!!), saw myself passing my thesis defense, put off Aunt Flow's arrival for a few days if a big dance or event was scheduled - like my wedding, found parking spots and many other things. The process I used was detailed and lengthy and it's still the way I prefer to visualize things, BUT, visualization doesn't have to be complicated. Lay in a quiet place, close your eyes and focus on what you want. SEE IT, FEEL IT, KNOW you can make it happen. That's all you need to do. If you have a cramp in your leg, visualize the muscles relaxing. If you have a big job interview, visualize the interview, what questions they will ask and how you will respond. Visualize you signing the acceptance letter! Visualize yourself making the choices you want to make throughout a day - be it reaching for some healthy dark chocolate instead of an Reese Peanut Butter Cup, walking up the stairs instead of taking an elevator, finishing your household chores. See how you want your life to be. As I've said many times before, your reality is how you perceive it to be. Why not see it as great as you want it to be???
I hear ya on this one. That's a great tip. One of my favourites actually! I'm visualizing myself with another Tiber River pedicure right now! ;)
I love Yuzu. I love Yuzu.
