Merry Christmas!

What a beautiful winter day, it definitely feels like Christmas!  We wish you all a very Merry Christmas filled with special time with family, peace and abundance in every way. 

Please leave us your comments over the next couple of days and share the most thoughtful gift you received for Christmas.  Personally, I don't really care about receiving more "stuff" or how much people spend (although I do enjoy nice things!), but a thoughtful gift gives me the warm and fuzzies.  I will also share mine with you and will be back here on December 27. 

We will be closed today at 3 pm and also closed for Boxing Day this year to give our team a bit of a rest.  Let the rum and eggnog begin!

Ready, Set, Go!

First, I'd like to wish Sara the very best in her new adventures.  Yesterday was her last day at Tiber and she will be missed!   Also, a warm welcome back to Darcie today.

Well, the final countdown is on and I hope everyone is close to feeling ready.  Our team is doing a fanastic job and the holiday products are flying off the shelves.  If you're hoping to pick some up, you'd better come quick!

These 3 below are VERY LUCKY they are cute.  Cupcake (the kids named her - poor thing), the newest addition to our family, enjoys stalking our other cat in the middle of the night.  Nothing like a growling wrestling match going on beneath your bed at 2 am.  Shortly followed by Paige waking up because the bear who guards the edge of her bed fell on the floor and Brynn ended up in our bed for the 31st (??) night in a row.  I'm sure all of you moms can relate!  I have started to hide the children's gravol from my husband.

What has everyone been busy with?  We had 2 Christmas parties this weekend, attended a community event with Santa on the Hill, and enjoyed the Nutcracker on Sunday afternoon (it was fabulous!).

Last night we ventured out for an annual holiday tradition and went for a ride on the outdoor train in Charleswood.  It was a beautiful night and the kids loved the lights and Christmas carols.  With the warmer temps, it's a great time to go.  Check out the times HERE

Something NEW & Tiber Book Club Date

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday, I wasn't in front of a computer long enough to complete one.  I will do a weekend post to make up for it! 

We received our NEW plantable gift certificate from Botanical Paperworks this week and they look fabulous.  Instead of nasty plastic gift cards, we are now offering plantable gift certificate that grow beautiful wild flowers after they are redeemed.  The gift that keeps on giving!  (I tried to post a photo, but it keeps freezing on me...will try tomorrow)

The next Tiber Book Club will be on Tuesday, January 19 at the Academy location from 7-9 pm.  Our book choice is Tasting Rain by Winnipeg author Kim Malchuk.  It is a moving story about her life's journey and the important lessons she has learned.  I think it will serve as a great "reset" for the New Year and I am so excited to meet her, she is truly an inspiration.  Tasting Rain can be purchased at McNally or on her website.  Please email michelle@tiberriver.ca to register.

Feeling Festive!

Okay, I need to come clean, sorry for disappearing on you!  I have been digging my way out from under a large pile of to-do's and I apologize for ignoring our cherished readers.  There is no good excuse. 

I want to know who else is up and reading our blog in the wee hours of the am?  Our stats show 38 page views so far today.  Please say hello if you're here with me and I will give you a special Tiber product to help you sleep!  My 2 year old is getting her molers and I think this is the 21st night (maybe more) that she has kept me awake.  She is now happily snuggled in my bed sleeping with my husband, grrrr.

Last night was our Tiber holiday celebration and great fun was had by all.  It was a much larger group than last year and I am so very proud of our team.  I will post pics  tomorrow (hopefully).

I also attended a Celebration of Life yesterday afternoon and the message is clear; LIVE, be good to others, be grateful for the people we have in our lives, and be thankful for all that we have.  Important things to remember this time of year.   

Today is Day 1 of single parenting and I am ready!  I woke up to the sound of "Mommy I naked" from my 2 year old this morning as she lay freezing in her crib after unsnapping her pyjamas.  It was 5 am instead of 2 am so life is good...

A Great Evening and the Final Holiday Contest Day

Good Morning!  My house was a gong show again last night (and this morning) and I'm a little pooped today.  I think I need something a little stronger than coffee.

Yesterday we hosted an evening of pampering for a group of dentists at our Kenaston location.  We'd like to thank them for choosing Tiber River for their monthly gathering.  A big shout out to Sherri at Linden Ridge Dental on Waverley for organizing the event. What a great group of women, they were such a pleasure to treat! 

Reminder:  Please visit us at our Holiday Open House(s) next week at Academy on Monday from 6-8 and Kenaston on Tuesday from 6-8.  Free Santa Pics, nibblies, and a cup of cheer.  Bring the kids and we are asking everyone to please bring a food item(s) for Winnipeg Harvest.

Thank you so much for the comments this week, I just love reading them!  Today is the final day of our Holiday Contest and we'd like to hear about your most memorable Christmas (or Hanukah) celebration.

Mine is bittersweet.  I lost my Gramma (suddenly) 6 years ago 3 days before Christmas and a month before the birth of my first child.  My Gramma was an amazing, strong woman and we were always very close.  She taught me so many valuable lessons and I am who I am because of her.  Most importantly, she taught me unconditional love.  She loved me no matter what and I always felt adored and special.  This is how I am raising my girls.  Christmas was her favorite time of year because she loved spending time with family (and was a devout Catholic). It is also my favorite holiday and every year I get to celebrate my Grandmother.

Have a great weekend everyone.  It is our last quiet (er) weekend so I am going to cherish each moment.  We are having the Tiber Holiday Party on Sunday at Academy lanes and I'm looking forward to it!

 

4 Cups of Coffee and Contest Day 4

I think I need a caffeine drip today.  It has been a week and a half of my children not going to bed, not staying in bed, peeing their bed, and getting up with me at 5 am (when I use that time to get the things done that I can't at night because they won't sleep!).  Grrrr...hope to relax and get some sleep tonight. 

Adriana and I were interviewed by Canadian Living Magazine yesterday morning for an article in their April issue about eco-friendly businesses.  We're pretty excited, we will keep you posted.

Two Truths and a Lie

Last night was our monthly staff meeting and we had a team building exercise where everyone had to share two truths and one lie about themselves.  The group had to guess which one was a lie.  It was hilarious and I actually snorted out loud, how embarrassing!  It's a great exercise for larger groups to get to know each other.

The truth today is I am really enjoying all of the recipes and sharing of holiday traditions, thank you so much for taking the time.  My best friend is a silent blog stalker and I don't know if she's reading it because she never leaves a comment.  Yesterday she called to "verbally share" her favorite tradition and I liked it so much I wanted to post it so someone else may start this with their family.

"My favorite tradition is having a Christmas morning treasure hunt with my kids.  They get clues and go all around the house and fill their stockings with these treasures." - Laurie

Lindor Reynolds wrote in the newspaper this morning that "Christmas is too often about frenzied malls, crying children and short tempers.  It's nice when people realize the real meaning of the season, when the needs of strangers become more important than personal needs."  Today's question for the Holiday Contest is...What are you doing this Holiday Season to help others? 

Our Splurge group is volunteering to serve a meal at Siloam Mission and Tiber River is collecting as much food as possible for Winnipeg Harvest.
